SpinTech directions

To prepare for spinning, remove the spinner, speed control with cords and a bobbin from the fitted case.  Plug the speed control cable into its socket on the rear upright of the spinner.  The plug will only engage one way.  Insure that the power switch is in the center OFF position and plug the power cord into an appropriate wall outlet.

Install a bobbin by rotating the black tension band until it can be draped over the top of the rear upright.  Move the red lever on the rear upright to its up position that retracts the tailpiece bearing and allows a  bobbin to be fitted onto the front bearing in the middle of the flyer crossbar.

Align the rear pulley opening of the bobbin with the tailpiece bearing and slowly move the red lever to its down position, engaging and locking the bobbin in place.  The bobbin should rotate freely in its two bearings.

Place the tension band into the groove on the rear bobbin pulley and rotate the black tension knob to take up the slack.  Thread a leader onto the bobbin in the normal manner using the treading hook that is in its holder on the front of the spinner.  Pull the leader thread through one part of the hook on the flyer and then pull through the eye on the end of the flyer.  Then using the spring hook pull the leader through the hole and down the shank and out the orifice.  There are two brass screws to wrap the yarn around to hold the twist.

To start spinning, move the power switch to a clockwise “Z” position.  For plying, use “S” position (or counterclockwise).  Prepare to feed your fiber in the normal manner as you gradually press on the speed control.  Feed the fiber and adjust the tension and speed for the desired results.

Move the hooks on the yarn guide on the flyer arm to allow even filling of the bobbin.  If you are having trouble with your draw, try backing off the Scotch tension by turning it counterclockwise until the spring is hardly stretching.

For plying, screw the lazy kate rods into the threaded sockets in the cover of the fitted carrying case.  Slip your filled bobbins over the vertical rods and ply as desired.
