Carders and Combs

Handcards

Otto Strauch has the most economical wool or cotton handcards.  They come in full or half sizes.

Louet's wool cards or half wool cards have wonderfully flexible teeth.   If you were going to card or blend cotton and other fine fibers, you would want cotton cards as well: half size cotton cards. 

The new Schacht wool cards have 48 psi for coarse wool, 72 psi for medium wool and 112 psi for fine wool. Their new cotton cards have 208 psi.   

We have FLICK cards from Schacht, Louet and Strauch.

Drumcarders

The Fricke-Strauch 405 drum carder with superfine cloth on the large drum, a slicker licker on the small drum, a brush for flying fibers and a ratio of 6:1. It cards beautifully and has to be tried to be believed. 

Otto Strauch also makes carders with a ratio of 4:1 with a wooden frame. All of the Fricke-Strauch drum carders have interchangeable and adjustable drums and come with a batt picker and doffer brush. 

The new Fricke-Strauch petite special drum carder is now available either preassembled or in kit form.  The drum produces a batt of 6" x 22".    The overall size is 9"x16" and has a hidden tray which can be extended.  Great  traveling carder.   

For all Fricke-Strauch drum carders, the brush attachment is available as is a doffer/cleaner brush and a teasing tool which is larger than a flicker and clamps to the table with a C clamp for hands free teasing.

Louet has the roving carder as well as the full sized carder.  

Combs

Valkyrie combs are either single row or double row.  Call for prices. 

 The Louet mini combs come in single row and double row and the new hackles are great for color blending of prepared fibers as well as preparing washed fibers.  

 The LaniCombs with interchangeable heads are unique handheld single row interchangeable head combs.  Four row interchangeable combs.  14" or 18" hackles are also available.  Lani Combs are beautiful as well as beautifully crafted the combs.  They are stainless steel and come in mini, two row to five row English style and 2 - 4 row hand held.
